Rethinking Group Volunteering: From Transactional to Transformational
Wednesday, Aug. 6th | 1 PM – 3:00 PM
Group volunteering is evolving—and so must our approach. In this interactive session, we’ll explore how corporate, and group volunteering is changing across Canada.
Volunteers, employers, employees, volunteer centres, and non-profit leaders are invited to join a conversation on what group volunteering looks like today, and what it could look like tomorrow. We’ll examine Volunteer Canada’s current group volunteering model, talk about challenges with “one-off” experiences, and explore what meaningful, community-driven group engagement can be—especially when led or supported by employers. Let’s imagine a future for corporate and group volunteering that benefits everyone involved.

Co-Creating a Community-Based Volunteering Model
Wednesday, Aug. 13th | 1 PM – 3:00 PM
This session invites volunteers, non-profit staff, and community leaders—especially those working with or in low-income communities—to help shape a new, community-rooted model of volunteering in Canada.
We’ll begin by walking through a draft model developed by Family Dynamics Winnipeg and Volunteer Canada. Together, we’ll explore what’s working, where improvements can be made, and what’s still missing. This is a unique opportunity to build a model that reflects the needs and strengths of local communities—centering equity, lived experience, and grassroots leadership in volunteer engagement.

Measuring What Matters: Data, Impact, and the Future of Volunteerism
Wednesday Aug 20, at 1:00 PM
Data helps us tell the story of volunteering in Canada—but what are we measuring, and what are we missing?
This workshop invites volunteer centres, non-profit leaders, and data practitioners to join a national conversation about how we collect and use data in the volunteer sector. This session also encourages participants to support drafting priorities for measurement and evaluation of the National Volunteer Action Strategy. Featuring a presentation from Volunteer Toronto’s Cara Eaton, we’ll discuss new approaches to measuring volunteer impact, sector-wide data gaps, and how smarter data collection can support a more responsive and equipped volunteer ecosystem.
