Role Overview
We’re seeking a Research Assistant to help us improve volunteer engagement and board governance programs. You’ll gather data, analyze trends, and provide insights that support our training and outreach efforts.
What You’ll Do
Assist in conducting a needs assessment to determine tools and support for community groups across Nova Scotia.
Research funding opportunities that support community programming for volunteer recruitment and nonprofit governance
Prepare reports and materials for staff and volunteer boards
What We’re Looking For:
Strong research and organizational skills
Familiarity with nonprofit organizations and a passion for volunteerism
Excellent communication abilities
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Required Qualifications:
Computer skills/MS Office experience. Research and data entry will be required for updating a non-profit and contact database. Studies or experience in community development or volunteerism would be considered an asset.
Job Description:
Under the direction of the Coordinator, the Research Assistant will assist with ongoing projects such as a review of the VNS database and its active organizations. This project will include collecting user data via surveys, and site analytics.
The Research Assistant will conduct a landscape review of active nonprofit and volunteer organizations in Nova Scotia. This project will generate a list of all active groups, and current contact for each organization and conclude with a needs assessment survey to determine the types of supports needed by each group.
The final component of this project is to generate a list potential of funders (foundations, corporate grant opportunities) that have a mission, or community vision that aligns with the work of Volunteer Nova Scotia.
