Position Community Outreach Coordinator - South Shore - SMNS: South Shore
Impact Statement Shelter Movers is a national, volunteer-powered charitable organization providing moving and storage services at no cost to individuals and families fleeing abuse. We collaborate with local businesses and community agencies to support people, primarily women and children, as they transition to a life free of violence.
Shelter Movers Nova Scotia has been operational since 2019 and has completed over 800 moves to date. We are growing and looking to add caring and compassionate people to our volunteer team.
Description The Community Outreach Coordinator is integral to the Recruitment team and works closely with the Volunteer Services Manager to execute local volunteer recruitment. The primary role is to foster relationships with local organizations and serve as a liaison between Shelter Movers Nova Scotia and the community. Other duties include posting volunteer positions on relevant platforms, reaching out to businesses, universities or volunteer groups to increase awareness of SMNS, as well as identifying potential recruitment events. The Community Outreach Coordinator will also develop new ways to increase recruitment while establishing connections to promote volunteer retention. This role is intended for someone residing in the South Shore.
Training Details All volunteers will be asked to agree to a confidentiality agreement, pass a police record check, attend a volunteer orientation and receive role specific training.

Time Detail Flexible working hours with a commitment of 2-3 hours per week.
