Impact Statement Volunteers with Halifax Regional Police assist in crime prevention and victim support.
Description Halifax Regional Police Victim Services volunteers provide emotional support, crisis intervention and referral information to victims of crime at the scene, during evening hours. Volunteers provide support to victims who may have been involved in domestic violence, robberies, assaults, motor vehicle accidents, etc.
• 19 years of age or older
• Knowledge, education or experience in providing listening and referral supports to clients in a human services capacity
• Valid Nova Scotia Driver’s Licence
• Candidates must have reliable transportation to and from the Dartmouth police office due to late evenings and no public transportation available
• Good driving record
• Meet security clearance requirements, including a polygraph examination
• Able to make a minimum one-year commitment.

Training Details Training will take place over one full weekend, and on-the-job training will continue over several months.
