Impact Statement Volunteers directly benefit student athletes by giving them an opportunity to participate in a sport that is for male and female athletes of all sizes and skill levels. Getting students active in an exciting sport, being a positive influence on them and helping develop amateur wrestling in Nova Scotia are all facets of wrestling volunteer positions.
Description Volunteer wrestling coaches are needed around the province to introduce the sport to new wrestlers and to develop lasting programs in their communities. Coaches deliver instruction at practices and motivate young athletes to succeed in development and at competitions. Volunteers demonstrate sportsmanship and are good with young athletes.
Training Details Training opportunities vary by location but there are materials available to volunteers. National Coaching Certification Program Part A is required and available at different times through the season.
Working Conditions Coaches are required to submit a clean criminal record check and child abuse registry check.
Minimum Duration 4 - 6 months
Timing Weekday - Evening, Weekend - Daytime
Time Detail The typical wrestling season begins in November and finishes in April-May
