Ummah Society
The Ummah Society is the largest Muslim charity in Atlantic Canada. Founded in 1989, its mission is to embody the first Islamic Institution established by Prophet Mohammed PBUH and the early Muslim Immigrants. As it was beyond a place of worship, It was a beacon of knowledge, a refuge for charity, a shelter for the homeless, a community space for gatherings and celebrations, and a haven for children’s play and growth. In essence, the aim is to render the Ummah Society a hub around which the lives of Muslims in Atlantic Canada revolve. The Society works in different sectors and operates three Mosques across Nova Scotia, P-12 private schools, licensed daycares, and recreation centres.
